往返台灣數次，並曾於台灣駐村的澳洲藝術家Matt Chun將於朋丁舉辦在台首次個展。
往來台灣及澳洲期間，Matt與其8歲大兒子Miro一同創作，完成了200件小型畫作。在交錯的時空場域之下，此系列作品含括了各式物件和轉瞬即逝的無常小事，以鉛筆和水彩為媒材，展開一趟積累的視覺旅行。這些作品消化了複雜的思想，例如：身份、靈性、家族史和文化符號，並將之轉日常對話而後留下的創作性產物。
本展中的另一系列作品，Matt則是找出了Miro和他曾祖父拍攝的底片風景照，將其轉化，去理解這個橫跨了四個世代的影像生成方式。
█ 關於藝術家 Matt Chun
Matt的作品橫跨繪畫、裝置、陶瓷、兒童書籍、漫畫、插畫和文字。主要創最大型地景和肖像作品，他的作品並曾刊載於澳州幾家知名的出版社作品中。
平常他在澳洲東岸小鎮伯馬吉（Bermagui）的海邊工作室進行創作，也經常往返墨爾本及台灣兩地之間。2016到2018年曾在澳洲藝術公會的支持下於台灣關渡國際自然藝術季及竹圍工作室駐村創作及發表。
目前他是澳洲維多利亞州立圖書館兒童文學研究員，並獲得現任4A亞洲當代藝術中心提出的「新興作家」計畫，將於今年前往雅加達和日惹創作。
身為一名寫作者，Matt主要關注於國家身份認同和公共空間的去殖民化。他的文章曾刊登在Overland Literary Journal，Meanjin Quarterly和Runway Experimental Art等刊物，他目前也正為Art Monthly Australasia和4A Papers撰寫文章。他去年出版的書籍澳洲鳥類《Australian Birds》 已被列為澳洲兒童圖書委員會著名書籍，並入圍CBCA最佳新銳插畫家獎。目前他正著手創作一本兒童圖畫小說，下一本書將於10月份與澳州出版社Little Hare Books合作發行。

Australian artist Matt Chun presents an installation of 200 small observational drawings, made between Taiwan and Australia, in close collaboration with his 8-year-old son, Miro.
The disparate collection of objects and ephemera depicted through these pencil and watercolour sketches forms an accumulative visual travelogue, intersecting time and place. These images are the creative residue of simple conversations about complex ideas: identity, spirituality, family history and cultural semiotics.
The exhibition also utilises a collection of analog photographic landscapes taken by both Miro and his great-grandfather, with graphic interventions by Matt, traversing 4 generations of image-making and perception.
█ About Matt Chun
Matt Chun’s work spans drawing, installation, ceramics, children’s books, comics, illustration and text. He primarily exhibits large scale landscape and portrait studies, and his work has appeared in several Australian publications. This is his first solo exhibition in Taipei.
Matt works from his seaside studio in Bermagui, a small town on the East Coast of Australia, also dividing his time between Melbourne and Taiwan. He has undertaken tenures as artist-in-residence at Guandu International Art Festival (2016 and 2018) and Bamboo Curtain Studio, Zhuwei (2017) with the support of Australia Council for the Arts.
In Australia, Matt is the current Children’s Literature Fellow at the State Library of Victoria. He is also the current 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art’s Emerging Writer, for which he will be writing from Jakarta and Yogyakarta during 2019.
As a writer, Matt is primarily interested in national identity and the decolonisation of public space. His essays have previously appeared in Overland Literary Journal, Meanjin Quarterly and Runway Experimental Art, and he is currently writing texts for Art Monthly Australasia and 4A Papers.
Matt’s next picture book is due for release in October with Australian publisher Little Hare Books. His previous book - Australian Birds - released in 2018, has been listed as a Children’s Book Council of Australia Notable Book and is currently shortlisted for the CBCA Award for Best New Illustrator. He is currently working on a graphic novel for young children.
